XetaWave Expands Functionality of its Data Concentrator & Announces the Release of a Terminal Server to Simplify SCADA Communications & Reduce Network Costs
LOUISVILLE, CO, October 9, 2019 / ‐‐ XetaWave, a Colorado‐based leader in wireless technology, XetaWave announces that it has expanded the functionality of its Data Concentrator (XetaDC) and has released a Terminal Server (XetaTS), both designed to simplify SCADA communications and reduce network costs.
XetaWave's Modbus Data Concentrator (XetaDC) is a very robust application that is built
within all XetaWave Ethernet radios including its I/O Expander and new Terminal Server
(XetaTS). The XetaDC offloads the polling load from RTUs/PLCs/flow computers or a SCADA
host to another device such as a well pad I/O access point. In doing so, the XetaDC can
lower bandwidth consumption on licensed links by a factor of 10+, lower I/O loads on RTUs and PLCs, and eliminate hardware variances in the field for EFMs. In addition, the XetaDC enables sensors from multiple vendors to be standardized into a single Modbus map and concentrated for fewer polls such that only desired, and not extraneous, data is returned in the sensor’s map.
Through the XetaDC, the well pad can be standardized to both the RTU and SCADA polling host allowing single data point manipulation and resulting in lower management overhead. Using MQTT/Sparkplug B the XetaDC can publish data and report by exception over MQTT. The new XetaWave Terminal Server (XetaTS), pending Class 1 Div 2 certification, is an
industrial terminal server that is simple, reliable and cost effective. The XetaTS is ideally
suited for applications requiring COM ports, serial tuning, TCP/UDP sockets, or multiple
unicast functionality. The XetaTS supports TCP Terminal Sever, TCP Terminal Client, UDP
Terminal, and Multicast Terminal modes along with a serial-Modbus bridging feature.
The flexible interfaces of the XetaTS allow multiple serial devices and an Ethernet device
to be connected all at once.
The XetaTS is currently shipping and will support up to two radio modules. XetaWave is an Event Sponsor of the ENTELEC Fall Seminar and will be showcasing its
products in Odessa on October 10, 2019. Information on all XetaWave products can be
accessed on its website at www.xetawave.com
